Chapter 8

The following Wednesday, Wayne was sitting in a meeting with the rest of his coworkers when he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket sending him a signal that he had a text message. He smiled at the thought that it was Tania that had just sent him a text message. Ever since Sunday, Tania had been more receptive to him. She even agreed to stay at his home when she came down that weekend after him asking multiple times. Wayne’s boss had just wrapped up the meeting and Wayne reached into his pocket and retrieved his phone. He looked down at the screen and saw the message was from Trisha. Wayne didn’t fully read her message when he hit the exit button on the text message. Trisha has been calling and texting him a lot for the past few days and each time she did Wayne either sent her call to voicemail or closed out the text messages she sent. Trisha was out of his life and the only thing she knew about him was where he worked so he was not going to waste any time or energy on her. She was his past and he planned to keep her crazy ass there.

He sent Tania a text message letting her know that he made dinner reservations at a local seafood restaurant. In one of their conversations, Tania mentioned her newfound love for catfish and since he was in Charleston, the seafood there was always fresher and more potent. He was ready to show Tania his city and all it had to offer. Wayne headed back to his desk to finish his work and plan the rest of his date with Tania.

Tania arrived at Wayne’s house a little after 7:00pm Saturday evening. Wayne helped her get inside and get settled. He informed her that their reservation was at eight, so she only had forty-five minutes to get dressed. Wayne gave her the master bedroom, while he went into one of the guest rooms to finish getting dressed.

Thirty minutes later Tania called out, “Wayne, where are you? I am ready.”

He told her that he was downstairs waiting on her. Tania stepped off the last stair and Wayne stood. “Wow!” was all Wayne could say when he spotted Tania. Tania was wearing a red dress with sleeves that were made of sheer material with rose designs going up and down her arms. She had gold dangling earrings with a long gold necklace around her neck. Her shoes were red with gold specks running through them. She wore light make-up that consisted of concealer, eye shadow, and red lip-gloss. “Damn beautiful, you are look stunning,” Wayne told her.

Tania smiled, “Thank you! You are looking good yourself, sweetie.” She was complimenting Wayne’s white sweater vest with a blue polo shirt peeking out around the collar. He had on a pair of black slacks with blue and white loafers.

“Are you ready?” Wayne asked and Tania nodded. Wayne grabbed her hand and led her out of his house.
